Halifax Hurricanes - Team Manager Guide

RAMP Overview

RAMP is the official sports management platform used by:

  • Lacrosse Nova Scotia

  • Halifax Hurricanes

What You Need to Know:

  • Your team will be set up in RAMP with the roster already loaded.

  • You’ll receive admin access.

  • Game (MMLL) and practice (Hurricanes) schedules automatically populate.

  • Families must use the app to set availability for each game and practice.
    Encourage families to sync the schedule with their calendars.

  • The TEAM RAMP app is used for team communication.

  • Game sheets are managed in the RAMP Game Sheet App.

    • Confirm the roster before each game.

    • A training document is available in the resources section of the app.

Game Day Support

Your role is to support coaches before, during, and after games.

Responsibilities:

  • Confirm attendance and update the roster in RAMP.

  • Contact affiliate players if requested by the Head Coach.

  • Ensure the 2 Deep Policy is followed in all dressing rooms.

  • Enforce any suspensions (you’ll receive notifications).

  • Assist with any injuries and follow up if needed.

Head Injury Reporting:

Team Parent Meeting

Host a meeting early in the season. Suggested agenda:

  • Introduce coaches and parents.

  • Head Coach discusses season goals, expectations, and rules.

  • Review RAMP app and confirm parent contact info.

  • Explain the communication plan (manager = first point of contact).

  • Talk about tournaments, events, gear/clothing, and team budget.

  • Recruit parent volunteers to help with various roles.

Practice Scheduling (Floor Time)

  • Each team receives one weekly practice.

  • Contact Julie if you need to:

    • Trade or cancel a practice time

    • Reschedule due to tournament participation

    • Notify her if your team is unavailable for a scheduled game

Team Equipment

Provided by the Club:

  • Bucket of balls

  • Cones

  • Locker room door sign

  • Jerseys & practice pinnies

  • First aid kit

  • Player of the Game necklace

Return Requirements:

  • All items must be returned washed and in full at the end of the season.

Jersey & Pinnie Management:

  • Collect a deposit (post-dated cheque or credit card form).
    Do not accept e-transfers to your personal account.

  • Complete the Jersey Inventory Form (included with jersey set) to track:

    • Player deposits

    • Jersey and pinnie numbers

  • Keep extra jerseys for backups.

  • Advise parents to:

    • Attach Velcro before washing

    • Hang dry to reduce damage

Goalies:

Goalies should reach out to Nathan directly for equipment.

Team Budget & Fundraising

  • The club covers most seasonal costs.

  • Teams are responsible for additional expenses, such as:

    • Tournaments

    • Team events

    • Photographer

    • Clothing/water bottles

  • Team manager duties:

    • Collect extra fees or organize fundraising

    • Track and keep all receipts

Registration:

  • The manager registers the team.

  • Register early and request confirmation.

  • For out-of-province travel, complete the Travel Sanctioning Form:

Certification Requirements

Coaches Must:

  • Have a valid Coach NCCP#

  • Provide a background check (within past 3 years)

  • Complete a Coach Certification Course (3hr classroom + 1.5hr on-floor)

    • U11, U13, U15: Community Development

    • U17 & Junior: Competition Introduction

  • Complete all required e-modules:

Helpers (under 16):
